This debate is trash. We are all human and can make mistakes. Our race/gender does not make us better. It’s all skills, training, etc. sure we have differences but to think we are somehow invincible is beyond foolish and that thinking is absolute trash.

The underlying point was the *possibility* that affirmative action policies and the judicial landscape might be an issue. 100% that was the case with Atlas.

On one hand, you say "of course, we want equal opportunity for everyone!"
Then when any diversity hires actually occur, you immediately assume it's an AA hire.

Umm…that’s because it generally is. Affirmative Action or D.I.E. Or quotas of any sort always result in less qualified candidates going to the front of the line at the expense of the more qualified. BTW equal opportunity already exists and has in this country for decades. What we are seeing now are policies designed to force equality of outcomes And it’s not okay with those who have worked hard and made sacrifices to get ahead only to be left out because of race or gender. It’s discrimination in the name of non discrimination and it’s stupid and wrong.

You're missing a huge point.
There is a world of difference between hiring women and minorities, and giving special preferences and sacrificing standards to hire someone simply based on their skin color or what's in their pants/what they want in their pants, and then persecuting those who say they don't agree with the practice of special privileges based on those things.
I can tell you first hand from my experiences of talking with minority captains who have been here a while, they are the ones vehemently objecting to this "virtue-signaling effort by white progressives" because they imply that the minorities aren't capable of certain things without their help. In short, you're disparaging their achievements and accomplishments in life because they made different choices. And these progressives are so tone deaf, they just drive on their agenda without stopping to even listen to the people they're supposedly trying to help.

Know a minority female pilot who never applied at UAL because of that. IMO it should be easier for minorities to get hired because for decades it was't, and we are not even yet. It should also never be okay to get hired or not fired if you are not good enough, regardless of what you are or identify as. And I fully expect every class to be at least 90% white guys, because that is what is in the schools. Aiming for 50% is asinine. Nobody is trying to get 50% male kindergarten teachers, and where is the outrage.....
