You can walk right into the cockpit of a A330 or 767-400 at Delta as a new hire. Upgrade to do the same flying within a couple months. Or go to FedEx.

There’s absolutely no reason to keep doing the status quo if you’re miserable. Life is too short to be doing something you hate. Seriously….go somewhere else if you’re unhappy. There will never be a better time for a pilot to change employers in your lifetime.

Doing regional schedules isn’t the most thrilling, but it gets me the QOL I want. I could care less about long haul and big jets. I want days off at home to do what I really want.
Well, lots of Caribbean layovers to answer your question. I ended up getting my own packable snorkeling equipment because I was in AUA so much.

Too late to move on. I’d never recover the money for one thing. Besides, I’m finally back to my original relative seniority from prior to “the marriage”. It only took twelve years.

Go on. What else ya got?

what about your income during those 12 years, compared to what it was/would have been at AT? Just curious.

AUA ain’t long haul by a long shot and you can do that out of BWI. Costa Rica and Mexico overnights out of HOU. DR out of MDW.

Topped out WN CA gets paid $281/hr
Yr 1 DL 737 CA gets paid $262/hr
Yr 2 UAL 737 CA gets paid $262/hr (can’t upgrade on probation at UAL)
Yr 2 FedEx 757 CA gets paid $260/hr…$307 for any other airplane

You’re obviously miserable….what’s your price for happiness? I took a $80k paycut to leave my regional I despised to come here and was ahead by yr 3. Unless you’re pushing 60 or a OT *****….you’ll make up the difference quickly if you take 1st avail upgrade elsewhere.

Or you can keep making excuses why you can’t leave and just be a miserable SOB. Your call.

Well, the initial pay cut due to the “capturing” of my captain’s seat was not awesome. As for the rest of the time I guess it’s a comparison of a senior captain’s income in the JBA, NK, F9 peer group of carriers versus the income of a junior SWA captain as I’m sure that’s where AT’s pay scales would be right now.

Please go back in this thread and find where I’m complaining about my pay as compared to other carriers. When you do, please quote it.

I can do that out of BWI?! Really? Like what…..1-2X a year perhaps as opposed to the 3X a month that I used to get them? AUA layovers out of BWI aren’t year round either is my understanding, so let’s just keep the facts straight.

I already ran the spreadsheet, Ace. Leaving would not be a wise choice and that’s not even factoring in the next black swan event. So I’ll be staying I’m sorry to say. The good news is that if you ask some of the others on here they can tell you who I am and hopefully you have room on your avoidance bid list for this “miserable SOB”.

I'm not a tranny, but I'm going to guess you were not here for the merger. You sure do have all the kool aid talking points down though. A lot of families had to move and have their quality of life uprooted, because we gutted AirTran bases. It's ignorant to think that everything was bliss with our wonderful culture. The first thing GK did was threaten the AirTran pilot group after the first proposed seniority list vote failed. That was their welcome to SWA culture moment.

I was here. Sorry the truth hurts. What do I have wrong? Most of the Trannies were stapled behind me. What is it, 15 years to hold ATL captain, bottom reserve?
