I agree with the last sentiment. Not sure how a non-compete clause would hold up but I suppose it should be considered.

Check Airman Recommendation
It wouldn't. There is legal standing, but it is meant to prevent an employee from stealing from an employer by offering the same services to a competitor or to a client or group of clients.
SWA is an airline. SWAPA is a union. They are not competitors, although they share some competing interests . Therefore non compete isn't really non compete.
I do agree that at least an effort needs to be made to prevent this shameful thing from repeatedly happening, but what can you really do other than say "don't do that"?
Btw, some very valuable SWAPA full timers are former SWA employees. It goes both ways.

Maybe everyone who works at SNAPA should sign an agreement that if they go to work for management after their tenure at SNAPA, they have to get a tattoo on their forehead that says "traitor." And wear a pirate hat. Maybe it's more enforceable than the non compete type clause.

It's probably best to throw up our hands and give up on a Blue Falcon clause....that's the current sentiment. Ask your Rep, inquire directly to an Exec, that's the answer you're gonna get.

We elect these folks, right? Maybe we shouldn’t vote for douchebags that would do something like this? I wasn’t here then, but did anyone raise alarm about this guy when he was running to be SWAPA prez? If not, our own fault I guess.

His "ethics" have always been aligned with whatever the company wanted, so he's right where he belongs now, unlike when he was representing the company while pretending to represent the pilots when he was SWApA prez.

They redid the logo in the aughts and combined the W and the A so that it looked like a N. They have re-redone it now to correct it.
I still wear the old SNAPA pin that I got in 2014. It's a classic. Or something.
