This LOA is there for a reason.

True. Didn't think about that one.

Yes, you are allowed to non-rev when out sick.

Go to SWAPA's web site and type "sick non-rev" in the search box. First hit will be the MOU about this.

I hope C2020 will fix a lot of the issues.
I think these three comments summarize the problem very well when viewed together.

The "problem" is that vacation weeks are highly desirable for dual reasons. The first is of course to take time off, but the second is because they can be used to drop trips for pay and then fly over top of them at premium. Lots of money to be made there.

The only way to change this would be to limit ourselves to NOT flying at all over vacation. ( I am NOT advocating for this ).

Until that changes, holiday vacations weeks will always be in higher demand than their intrinsic value as a vacation because they will also have a monetary value to clear at 100% and pick up at 150% over the top.

How about the company distribute vacation weeks evenly , hence giving more weeks in the summer than we have now .

And go with what we voted for so you don’t have to block bid to trade for July 4 and Xmas or whatever.

The company went from do what you want, to not willing to make any changes. The question is how much time and money do you want SWAPA to spend on this ?

Its already been voted on and agreed to. I’m assuming it’s part of the 2020 rewrite. Whether it’s a hot button issue or not…I don’t know.

I wouldn’t want it agreed to at the expense of more NEC % or LTD or kicking training sked to the curb…that’s for sure.
