That being said, all it to took was putting a note about Philmont in my vacation trade comments and two guys generously traded their mid July trips for my crappy late summer / fall week so I could go.

This is one of the many reasons why I am so glad I am at SWA. We have a genuinely great group of pilots.
Overall a true statement. That said, if you have something that important in life coming up, don’t let not getting a vacation week come in the way of attending it.

“It’s just business”.

Just don't nonrev or fly using your SWAG / RR points on a space positive ticket while you're under the weather. Am I right? 🫣

Hypothetical.

So I twisted my arm, it hurt and couldn't move it well and banged out" sick" for a 4 day. Decided day 3 I needed to head to grab some stuff from my old house now that I have time. Grabbed a non rev pass on SWA because I can. And its better than driving 14 hours.

Who is going to check. And Where does it say we cannot do that?

Hypothetically.

Probably nobody. But why tempt fate?

I would agree it’s always better not to tempt fate, especially with our heavy handed pass bureau. I’m of the opinion that as long as you are not jumpseating(Additional Crew Member), either in front or back, you aren’t breaking any rules.

IMSAFE is a very broad self assessment of fitness for duty.

The contract allows you to fly non-rev when sick.

Yep.

We have a letter of agreement, available on the SWAPA website that states in no uncertain terms that pilots are allowed to fly Nonrev when on sick pull.
Period. Dot. No conditionals.

This LOA is there for a reason.

I stand corrected! 🫡
