You mean not flying 160 TFP a month working 16-18 days while they work 12 for the same?
Ok.
I can make more, but Ill work more. But they can make more by working less.

Exactly. It's that exact attitude that has kept our rates in the toilet for the last 50 years.
Working 20 days per month to make the same as our peers at OALs working 12 is "doing it wrong".
The gap gets even larger as you get more senior and many of your peers are flying wide bodies at the legacies.

Forgive me but picking up open time and our scheduling flexibility has always been what differentiated SWA from everywhere else. Frankly it’s why our W2s are more than our peers with higher dollars per hour. I don’t see how this has anything to do with the message our picket will send to the company tomorrow. So guys haven’t changed their behavior all of a sudden. How’s that offensive to anyone here?

There are a bunch of folks on the FB pages defending the people picking up over the picket.
Sadly, the arguments are exactly the same ones folks use to defend the actions of those that cross picket lines while their brethren are on strike, IE: "You don't know their personal situation" etc.........
This attitude is the reason that our contracts always lag the industry.

And for all of you that are reading this and picked up voluntary flying today, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your names are being noted, fyi.

I haven’t seen any real responses to my post besides name calling. It was an honest question so give your honest perspective and answer the question or I’ll assume you don’t have a valid response.
My average line has 17-18 days off and pays 100. I pick up two days and at 120 tfp per month I’m making much more than my Delta friends who have fewer days off. I’m not sure where you’re getting the “working 20 days” idea from, sure there are aggressive players who do 150-200 a month, but that’s their choice and isn’t needed to take home more than our peers. And I’m not sure why you’d assume I was okay with our current contract just because I say we can take home more on our W2s. Our pay rates need a serious upgrade. Two things can be true at the same time.

What’s offensive and scabbish’ is others picking up when your fellow pilots sweat it out for you under the torrid Texan sun
First rule in any blue collar midwest household
1. Don’t ever cross the picket line
2. Don’t miss Mass
