Hotel Finders

So along the lines of hotel provided: a two day pairing that runs into a one day pairing (different trip numbers and a gap on the schedule view between days 2 and 3) does NOT get you a hotel, correct?

When you return to your domicile at the end of a trip, the company is off the hook. Yes, if you put two trips together (two day back to back), your lodging in domicile is on you, hence the need for a hotel or crashpad. For commuters, the ability to move/trade trips is a valuable tool to minimize the time and money spent on lodging during the month. This is an obvious benefit to living in domicile or at least close to it. Unfortunately, much of the flying at SWA is often only commutable on one end of the trip, either the start or end. For PM examples, sign in could be 1100-1900 (commute in on day one), but the end of the trip could be 0130, where you may be out of luck on a commute flight home.
Some pilots are able at times to give away flying in one domicile and pick up trips in a domicile closer to home in order to reduce or eliminate a commute for that trip. This usually doesn’t apply to reserve blocks and may require a lot of time and creativity on the scheduling software.
