How much of this do y’all think is attributed to March being the first real month of new hire training in 2022? My understanding is most of Jan-Feb was dedicated to bringing back EXTOs. Anecdotal, but I can totally see someone who was hired in Dec but had to wait until Mar for training to go elsewhere in the meantime if the opportunity presented itself.

When the company’s growth plans start getting stifled by the inability to put butts in the seats, then maybe they’ll FINALLY take negotiations seriously.

Realistically, there's no contractual improvement that would make someone choose a decade long upgrade (to OAK no less) when other options are available.

Those who are able to leave within their first few years will most likely leave unless they bleed Canyon Blue for some reason... or live in Oakland.

The Jan 25 class was planned at 30 and there are 26 left. That’s the 4th class to start?

Exactly no contract is going to fix people leaving for a quicker upgrade. I am flying with alot of junior fo‘s who are saying those exact things. I think the company also knows that and that’s why they simply don’t care about giving us a contract now.

If the mighty Southwest has attrition like this I can't imagine what it must be like at the smaller LCCs/ULCCs whose management refuses to put out numbers.

The numbers are collected by SWAPA. The company back pedals and will not give an answer for how many are leaving. Denial is bliss over at HQ.

FWIW, my class in 2019 started with 26, 3 requals. Within a month, 2 left for OAL. By the end of training 1 more had dropped to somewhere and within 6 months after training 2 more bounced. So that's what 23-5 within 6 months, so 18/23 remained. This was in Mid 2019. So 10-20 percent isn't too far off from the norm.

Sorry, can you educate a recent hire what Canyon Blue is?

I honestly don’t care what seat I’m in. QOL is what I value most. (Before I get stoned to death, yes the contract does need to improve including pay).

I'm surprised they didn't cover that in Fly Day during new-hire. What's this place coming to?

It's just the name of the blue color they painted the planes when they switched from Desert Gold, lighter than the shade of blue they use on the new "Heart" livery.
