The premium game has made giving away stuff hard. I made the mistake of bidding reserve time try it out. Got called ten mins before calling scheds to get released on day four…and JA’d into day five. Ten trips for a DH isn’t bad—so I took it as a pickup.

Noobs—you need to download the SWAPA app as it has the contract at your fingertips.

For my last night example, the contract states that a JA in domicile once you return to domicile on your last day IS YOUR OPTION. If you take it, you can drop a reserve day later, but it’s on YOU.

I accepted it as I was looking for a turn anyway, but know what your rights are.

I can trade around a bit but I haven’t been able to straight drop and I bid weekday PM’s.
The trips are going to people who are having them pulled for various leaves. Part of the unspoken cartel.

People I’ve been looking at don’t have any leaves. Some get lucky with IOE pulls but mostly they somehow drop everything and play the game. One has worked every day of his vacation this week.

As much fun as work is…you won’t catch me working 1 day over a summer vacation week….ever.

Same. It's too bad the vacation time goes to somebody not utilizing it for time off, as so many of us would. I get that it's their award to do what they want with it, I'll never stand in their way of doing that. Their utilization of it is the complete opposite of what I would do, though.

I agree with this. More important things then money.

And this is a contract change. As we know, used to be vacation couldn't be worked. So anyone whining about this is the way it works... Well, ya. Now.

And a welcome contractual change it was. Ability to pick up over vacation is great and should be expanded IMO (e.g., TTGA). It’s a great way to make some coin for your next trip to Europe or Disney.

And of course I don’t need a green bar to take a vacation even though it certainly helps with some. I love how some insinuate that only a QOL hating, anti-family, greedy, workaholic would pick up premium over a vacation block.

You can literally work yourself to death any week of the year. You only get limited paid time off to go on vacation. Only a tool takes a premium, highly valued week and works over it.

Yeah, I know you’re at the bottom of the list for premium…also still a tool.

I really don't get why anyone cares what anyone else does with their vacation weeks.

I just worked over the end of my vacation pull. I took a trip to California with my family the week prior and was done being a man of leisure. So I worked over the last couple days of my vacation then I took another week off (not my vacation week) and went on yet another family trip.

Who cares? Work. Don't work. They are literally hurting nobody.

Not to defend our absolutely ridiculous vacation bidding system, but I have always gotten what I needed as far as weeks off. I play the game according to the rules I have, not the rules I want.
