yes if you bid lax to get out of oak you will be seat locked. If you bid any ETOPS category after your initial bid you'll be seat locked. If you dont want ETOPS you'll have to wait till you can bid non ETOPS out of oak.

The 180+ guys you see every week on the Open time reports all have sick calls every month. No idea how the hell they get rid of all their trips to clear their board….I’ve got good paying trips in give away and nobody bites. I can trade around a bit but I haven’t been able to straight drop and I bid weekday PM’s.

I guess I'm the chump for not having 10 sick calls this year already.

I'm off all this week and I cant even pick up a turn because of buffers. Not sure how the company is going to cover everything. I basically cant be rerouted unless it's a DH.

It isn't that hard. Study what others do and try to do some of that yourself. I am not a tournament player, but I do just fine and have a great QOL. I work to live, not the other way around.
Right now, the challenge is being legal to fly the smorgasbord of premium open time that is literally available every day of the month. What can you do to make yourself legal? Sick calls are not necessarily the answer, more of a last resort. If you know what you are doing, can hold a hard line, and are fairly flexible, you can have a great QOL and put up some decent numbers.
All that being said, the company is absolutely screwing themselves by packing the hard lines and creating extra reserves. This summer is going to be a goat rope.

Get in the habit of reviewing trip pay. It's a great way to learn how you get paid and when it doesn't make sense, call payroll AND your smart friend/SWAPA. It will get you a few dollars every year, for the rest of your career.
