I think this is why they haven’t recalled everyone yet. I didn’t take this recall today but I’d bet there will be another recall notice in the next 8 weeks.

During the earnings call today GK said they aren't sure. They want to get to June and see if reality matches their forecasts before they commit to additional recalls.

haven’t they recalled almost half of the FO’s?
Part of Operation DP (Deny Premium) where they go straight from threatening furlough back into an overmanned situation.

It's a darned good thing that they didn't furlough. The civil war sparked by the thirst for premium vs recalls would have been the most divisive event this group has ever faced. And we would have done it to ourselves.

I bypassed twice, going back to like 09-10 mind you, trying to remember, but I'm certain even with bypassing to stay at my domicile, my pay went down over all. Not a lot, but a bit, it was noticeable.
It was just to hard to get premium.
The term "Lance Captain" CRACKS ME UP! We had a rank in the Corps called "Lance Corporal" and once in awhile, you'd run into a "salty" Lance Corporal who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and nobody was getting promoted. I've seen them given a lot of responsibility for a mere E-3, and often wondered, if we're putting E-3's in charge, how could the score to get promoted be so high?
I digress, but the difference in pay should be damn near equal once over 6 years. You're 100% ready and able to be a CA by that point, and at a lot of airlines, you would be. If they did that, the apps would be FLYING in. I guess they kind of are anyways, but with recent changes in our style, I could see that changing.
Those guys and gals who chase airplanes, many of the are sitting on the right side 30 years into it. 4 years ago, their were 2 bases with the most junior CA on the 777 was 40 years! I think it was United?
If I ever wake up the King Turd, I'm going to equalize that pay more over the next couple of contracts. Just because it's the right thing to do.

We are looking at 2019 summer flying levels minus about 5% according to Gary’s messaging for June/July. Over the past year we have retired about 100 and another 550 or so via the early retirement. That puts us pretty close to optimal manning levels going forward.
Im expecting around 100 upgrades this fall to balance out the list followed shortly by some new blood in the training center early next year. I’d wager we will see 2012 hires upgrade this fall and a trickle of 2013/2014 hires by mid 2022. I would not be surprised to see upgrade drop down to the 6 year mark if things keep rolling along. Most of the 2015-2017 guys will be looking at an 8 year or less upgrade (less for the West coast guys) and I think it will stay around there for the foreseeable future.
none of this is based on any inside info, just reading the tea leaves.
