I get it as well. For me, starting 7th year in December. If the times come down, I’ll do a west side upgrade. Not married anymore, one kid off to college, the other done with high school in two years. If anything, long term sick time pays in captain rates. I’m on the west side anyway. If I were East side, I’d hold off too.

I live in base, in year five and easily get to 130-140 tfp per month. I will bypass until I do not have to commute. I am single with no alimony, no kids or child support. I don’t mind being the plug, but I am not going to commute. Been there, seen that movie. Not gonna do it again. Quality of life is just too precious.

Same. I’m fine being a Sr. FO. I’ll be the plug, but won’t commute to do it. Kids are young now so not a big deal if the schedule sucks.

Same here. Just started year 7 in base. Won’t commute to upgrade. Lately, my biggest motivation to upgrade is not the money, it’s so I don’t have to sit next to some of these douchenozzles anymore.

I'm sure there's douchenozzles in both seats. The down side of upgrading is that you lose your avoidance bid list.

But I definitely feel your pain.

Yep douchenozzles in both seats for sure. The CA wannabes are a blast.

There are lots of entertaining ways to deal with those clowns!

No offense intended, gents. But I always looked at avoidance bid lists as a copout that punish the FO, and have zero effect on Capt. DB. I just developed the complete lack of tolerance towards them and their BS, and the minute they start, I shoot their sh*t down.

Start nitpicking? I ask them if they want to fly. If the answer is no, then please keep the commentary to yourself unless I'm being unsafe, or you want one from me when you're flying.
Have a technique to show me? Show it on your leg. If I like it, I'll try it without your input. Been in this airplane for pushing 20 years and in both seats...

And yes, as FO's, we only see half of douchenozzles. It's gonna be fun flying with Kernal KnowItAll and his bros still on probation or maybe a second year, all who feel the need... the need to lead.

Yup. I’ve flown with a higher percentage of “unenjoyable” FOs than captains.
