Upgrade times

Before covid they were planning 500 upgrades a yr.
we know they are 500 short if they wanted to balance out the lists.
I'm still not sure about those bypassing upgrading at first available now that they saw everything go stagnant and downgrades this last yr.
would you want to be stuck commuting cross country to sit reserve in the days inn?

How did the guys that could hold the 737 at AT end up? I assume the 717 was the junior upgrade.
Maybe I'm not getting my point across well, but if your airplane is going away and you're not senior enough to hold the only available as CA, the only other viable option is FO.

That's just the big unknown. Upgrading into OAK and LAX now carries a minimum of 6 months there without the ability to move around the system. Suppose you're a DAL guy and you choose the first available upgrade with the intent of working your way back east. The best you'll be able to do would be LAS and that's if you can hold the EBG there, otherwise you're stuck with OAK or LAX until the 6 months is up. And even then, suppose there's a big bypass and you bid into one of the ETOPS bases; I have no doubt that some guys will just wait it out until they can hold non-EBG base and bid into it ahead of you making you stuck out there even longer.
This EBG lock could be a bit of a PITA.
