There's a 2010 hire on the SWAPA forum who is looking at a 17 year upgrade and brings up some pretty good points as to why the rumors from check airmen and chief pilots may not truly come to fruition. I don't think he is being pessimistic, but rather pragmatic considering the 1000 pilots who had bypassed prior to the pandemic and the contradiction between rumors and aircraft orders and plans announced in the Q2 earnings call.
However, I disagree with everything he says. He's going to have the opportunity to upgrade very soon if he chooses.

I'm pretty sure (by context) that he is using myseniority.com. That takes into account age 65 retirements.

Age 70 will just add 5 years to upgrade since most of those approaching 65 will stay around longer. Other than those who will medically dequal, it won’t help with upgrades.

Yeah same here. 2010-12 were bad years to get hired. Lots of stagnation and then the double whammy max and COVID right when they were in the window to upgrade.
That was the group of pilots who had to commute cross country to OAK for 2-3 years.
If you look at the organic employee numbers on the seniority list vs date of hire, that group definitely took it in the shorts for many reasons. Very little hiring and then zero hiring from MAR 2012 to DEC 2013.
