Interesting observation is the number of 2016 hires got emails from crew planning that they were getting close to upgrade and to double check their vacancies. Most junior I heard of was May 2016 LAX FO. The others were Feb 2016 OAKs.
I'm not sure what the threshold is for those to go out and how they have their vacancies set up, but I'm guessing they are bidding for first available in those bases and are opted-in to the lance program

I got the same email a few months back. It's basically a warning to look at your bids. With a bunch of upgrades projected, it would be easy to end up in a bad situation with an upgrade class scheduled during a month where you cannot do it for whatever reason.
Lance captain is getting ready to churn a bunch of folks who are expiring after the post Covid push and will be upgrading. It's going to end up surprisingly junior in a few cases where it has gone extremely senior prior to now. There will be lances that end up going to a upgrade surprise because they haven't looked at their bids or unchecked opt in since new hire.

I’m a late 2017 hire in a west coast base and received this email yesterday. Called up planning and it’s legit based on where I fall in the base. FWIW… Bid what you want, you just might get it sooner rather than later.
