Upgrade times
#1615
So how long would it take say, once I got the engines started on an F-15 (never flown one) to where I kill myself? I’m thinking like 32 minutes, because I would just haul ass all over at like 3 feet altitude. Okay, eight minutes because I left it in burner. Thoughts?

F-15 is surprisingly easy to fly. Read some of the old WWII histories where a pilot getting a "checkout" in a new squadron would get a short briefing on reference speeds and 15 minutes on what some of the switches do, and off they go... Almost all of those planes were harder to fly than the F-15. The pure flying isn't really the hard part in the F-15 and probably anything newer. Doing something useful in the plane, now that's a different matter entirely.

Reviving this thread for the upgrade soothsayers.
Junior upgrade went about 50 numbers senior to the SWAPA projection, which means that many bypassers changed their mind in the last few days. I have two friends who were bypassing that took the upgrade because it went junior enough in non-etops bases that they could upgrade with no lock and presumably only long distance commute for a few months.
Upgrade still about 8.5 years, but it was projected to go down to 8 years and 4 months. Future plans are a steady trickle for the next couple of months and then 540 in the first 5 months of 2023, which would be the biggest number this company has seen to date. If that holds true (not counting on it), upgrade time should drop significantly. Only time will tell.

Just as a data point, there are still nearly 800 FOs bypassing that were hired prior to 2014.

I would expect that 10 percent to always be there.
I am not sure why so many changed their vacancy bid at the last minute this go around. It's a weird dynamic having a bid every month.
I am a June 2014 hire and expect that I will be eligible in the January bid and will probably take a March. I have been wrong before and the way the fed is raising rates, we may be in a recession sooner than later.
