Preach!!

ditto here. I don’t see a course change in our management. All I’ve seen is talk so far.

And you have a better schedule comprised mostly of turns, 2-days, and 3-days (if you desire). A juniorish, bottom half CA will probably be stuck with at least one 4-day per month and almost definitely, mostly 3-days. That all assumes the CA isn’t really able to get much or any premium. Tournament playing cartel members are a different matter.

A jr Rsv CA can prob plan on around 110 easily. That’s $27k/mo without picking up anything.

A 12 yr FO would have to credit 157/mo. Let’s say you can get rid of everything and only pick up premium and avg 9/day. You’re working 17 days a month, minimum.

I check open time awards to see who’s above/below the cap so I can figure out likelihood of getting what I want. Some senior FO’s are working 180/mo with 4/5 days off a month. Once they’re above the cap, they’re picking up straight. They’re working weekends, etc. Sick, vacation, training is all at FO pay.

I don’t see the point of working to death when you can just upgrade and chill for the same pay with more days off. To each his own though.

It’s pretty easy to get premium if you’re above the cap. Also vacation, as A senior FO you can get much more credit for your dropped trips, and you can have vacation in June and July and get more premium than as a junior captain with February and October. Working 16 days and getting 140 TFP as an FO vs getting 10% more pay as a captain working 15 days on reserve might be worth it for the flexibility, weekends off, holidays off.

Theoretically possible if they plan on hiring 1500 pilots per year + retirements which accelerate in a few years.

Well, because that upgrade is to a base way out west and probably some sweet reserve. No flexibility on schedule... you know the drill.

but yes, people pushing 200 TFP (the ones that work hard for it) vs upgrading is always amusing.

No…these guys are mid 80xxx and can hold a line…in base. I’m not looking at OT awards out of base because I’m not commuting.

Prob working working at least part of the weekend, but if you’re doing 180-200…you’re working weekends anyway. With 20-25% rsv coverage, vast majority of trips mid week are going to rsv and yes, they’re taking them as EF or straight to keep the credit coming.

As far as vacation, one man’s trash is another’s treasure. Someone does wants a Feb week for a June…or just burn a sick call at CA pay.

Maybe they can’t hold a 1st class medical…who knows. I know I didn’t sign up for 6 days off a month…even if you get to brag you made $400k as a FO.

Working over summer vacation just to pick up premium. What a waste. Same dudes are the ones running to APC to tell everybody how much they made on the year end pay thread.
