No, it has to be a full captain-ELIGIBLE anywhere in the system.
If Eeyore isn’t feeling like getting mugged in OAK or worse, it is squarely his discretion to stay an FO, but that doesn’t get him out of paying for Hard 8’s.
And mommy’s gift cards are excluded too.

Actually we do need to nail down the details. Cross the Ts and dot the I’s so to speak.
The bet was 10 years from DOH. So is that in the seat by 10 years, or awarded the bid by 10 years?
It could matter since we bid 2 months in advance of the vacancy, which means that 10 years could be as soon as 20 months away depending on how you look at it.

Depending on where the vacancies are and how many bypass to avoid weekend reserve and a nasty commute....I could see 2015 hires being awarded CA by next summer as long as they upgrade as forecast and nothing crazy happens like Rona 2.0, etc...

The union vacancy projection shows the jr Captain dropping by about 250 numbers. I think the seniority spring is wound about as tight as it can take and there will be a massive drop in the time to hold Oak. It’s raining premium right now and the etops seat lock makes a 6 month cross country commute to weekend reserve about as appealing as a colonoscopy for a senior FO on the east coast. There are guys clearing 200tfp/ month in FEBRUARY! There are over 300 scheduled upgrades before September when the senior FO’s might consider grabbing one last premium vacation week before throwing their hat in for a left seat bid. If only 1 in 3 guys take the upgrade by Sept (entirely plausible) an early 2015 hire Captain isn’t out of the question this year.

I think we will see some 6 digit (not fake airtran 6 digit, actual employee numbers that coincide with seniority) upgrades before the year is out. There will be some guys that hold out to take their summer vacation and then bid another year of them, but that will probably get resolved in one bid.
Look at the hire dates on the seniority list starting in 2011. We didn't hire many people between 2010-2013. That four year period will get swallowed up quickly.
I also agree that the etops lock is a huge factor. Anyone who lives east of Denver (most of those airtran guys) is in for a world of QOL pain if they upgrade early. Look at the etops list for Vegas. It's pretty senior on the captain side. That means at least 6 months of commuting to reserve in LAX or OAK, even if they can make it back to their time zone prior to that. Yuck.

So some 6 digit guys got awarded cpt and even some east coast guys making the trek to oak for upgrade.
might we start seeing bypasser upgrade now? My theory is they know summer is gonna suck so they think might as well get cpt pay since we're all going to be working no matter what.
Junior cpts will still get all the premium they want.
