That made me laugh. Best response ever to any fellow "coheart" with a bad attitude.

that definitely is more like a delta frame of mind. If we want to get paid like delta then we should act like delta.
Why would the company fix a problem that doesnt exist? If we want to get paid out for sick time or have it renamed to personal time then we need to stop giving the company 1600 tfp back when we retire.
I look at it as a benefit that was negotiated and I earned and I have every right to use it without discrimination from the company.
I get what you meant and I agree with you wack.

The coin is big, but they’ve already sacrificed a year of it and were going for more. You also have to consider the intangible peace of mind of not commuting, training cycles, crowded airports and pax issues, Covid drama, etc.

Personally, if I had taken a nice break from that and saw I could live nicely on less money, it would be hard to come back.

Maybe try dropping down to your “less money” threshold? Fly for “fun” and enjoy all the free time.

I completely agree with you and was just trying to make funny. After all, look who that comment originated from

Do we have personal days? No? Okay, then no one should feel guilty about using the sick time that they earned.

exactly I think our sick time policy for use is very good. I've never been questioned or asked to see a dr or called into the chief for being sick.
I do think calling it personal time, while being no change in its use of policy, would alleviate some's concerns.
I'm also for a 1 for 1 buyback up to a certain amount each yr put in at the same time we do vacation bidding that way the company can account for it on their books.
or keep it the same ans continue the droning on of the company's sick use mantra.

Agree.

I was sure I’d get called in a few times but nothing.

Flew with a guy who called in sick every month for yrs. He got called into the CP office and when asked why he said "prove I wasnt sick"
CP said that's good enough for me and he never had an issue since.

Mental health is just as important for safety of flight as physical health!

While I agree ‘sick’ time should be changed to ‘personal time off’ like the rest of the modern working world, we already have a 1 for 1 buyback.

Actually, it’s 1 to 1.15 with our SWAPA NEC. The days of people retiring with 1600 sick trips are over, no matter how snarky the company gets about it.
