This is my surprised face that Boeing's newest 60 year old design overpromised and underdelivered.

In GKs words, the best plane is based on the economics of what we do. The max8 is economically a better fit than the neo for its mission. He stated the Canabus is likely better economically than the max7.

We either got a great deal from Boeing or we’re afraid to make the leap to something new. Either way we’ve kicked the can of inevitably down the road.

We’ll just do it “direct” with three stops along the way.

In training they said it was not overweight and they do not know where that came from. He said the range is 3850 NM which puts Denver within direct flights. Does anyone know if Houston or Dallas is within that ring ?

Flew with a "highly placed source" who was involved in the whole thing and went up to Canadia to fly the 220 sim. The decision was made on cost, period. Both planes did what they needed them to do. The 7 does have weight issues that affect economics, but SWA is working with Boeing and has been given guarantees that they will make them right.
Said the Max 7 is, on average, $1400 cheaper to fly every day than a NG 700 and that they are looking to replace high time 700s with them ASAP, which was also a huge driver in the decision.
Most of these airplanes are 700 replacements, not growth.

It would be really good if we could connect inbound flights from HI to red-eyes east bound.

e6, did your source say anything about whether any 7's will be ETOPS configured? I've always assumed that would be the only way PHX might ever see an ETOPS bid group.

Nerd moment—by definition a direct flight can have multiple legs but maintains the flight number.

A nonstop is well...nonstop.

Ok carry on.

yes. This. No one wants to leave Hawaii at 9:25am just to be stranded on the west coast.
