Whatever the intention of the “rant” many of us who are based and live in CA don’t really care. I personally love living in SoCal and know many other pilots who do too. It always makes me laugh when I fly with a pilot who is so bent out of shape about California. I live in the city, I’m well aware of the problems we have here, I don’t need a 3 time divorced captain that lives in rural Kentucky telling me how a city should fix itself when they haven’t even been outside the airport, Disneyland, or the crew hotel.

I’m just here for the memes.

Hypocritically Yang, Sanders, Moore and the like have accumulated wealth via the free market or the democratic process but want to deny the general population the same opportunities.

Want proof? Look at any and all current and former communist states. The population is impoverished while the elites live in extravagance, and in disbelief that “the people” can be so discontent and disillusioned.

Every single communist country has not only turned its back on the poor, but decimated the working class adding once productive middle-class citizens to the poverty class.

Want first hand testimony? I can have some of my many Venezuelan friends who have sought asylum here give you a call and tell you how their lives and families have been destroyed by what was supposed to be “equitable redistribution”.
Just like Detroit or Flint, Mi? How about St Louis? Or the coal mining communities of West Virginia? Cleveland?

Not sure why people are so quick to forget the demise of American cities over a couple decades to just spout, “Vuvuzuela Venezuela!”
“What’s that? You want social safety nets? Go directly to Gulag, Communist Stalin!”

This is why you can’t talk politics in the cockpit with some people. The facade of rational discussion is quickly broken down to expose an “us vs them” ideology of backing in the corner to the most extremes of a side, to belittle any argument that’s given. There is no middle. Only Venezuela vs Nazi Germany, perpetuated with talking points from cable tv or fringe websites.

Now someone is going to get some sort of disciplinary action, but hey, totally owned the libs.

It's actually pretty funny, and the memes are amazing. I have heard about 50 different versions of that rant from about 300 different captains. It's a prerequisite to get hired at Southwest that you have to hate on California every time you go there and then say something conciliatory about how the weather is nice. Our California based pilots even have to do it in the sim in Dallas every year with a check airman witnessing and signing them off.

This dude had a reasonable expectation that his conversation would remain within the cockpit. I am sure all of you "professionals" have never said anything dumb or inappropriate on the ICS. Maybe this dude was trying to be funny, I don't know, it's a weird rant. Besides, Hyundais do kinda suck.

If that's a part of SWA culture then that's really really funny; a perfect Boomhauer rant unintelligibly hitting multiple topics that still paint a clear image, interspersed with professional ATC calls? There're layers of comedy there so much deeper than just some contrived, scripted ripping on CA. I think what SW needs to do is reduce the recurring maintenance interval on their PTTs

If you didn’t think that was funny then you must be a real pain in the a$$ to fly with.

There’s a AA captain who asks FO’s to feel his core during flights. The guy is big into cross-fit and exercise and needs approval to see how firm he is.

There's no way this guy was serious. It was pure comedic genius worthy of Stephen Colbert. Too bad it got out of the cockpit and the SJWs got a hold of it, and now want to cancel him. They will probably prevail.

The memes are hilarious.

We have a guy who stands up and shadow boxes in flight. And does trunk twists during every descent.
