Occasionally, if someone is thoughtful and open-minded, I think productive discussions about "taboo" topics can be had at work, but they're definitely the exception to the rule, and usually it takes until day 3 or 4 of the trip before we bring it up. If someone starts on the first leg, you can tell it's pointless and counterproductive.

Personally, I think our unwillingness to politely discuss and disagree about certain subjects has led to our collective inability to engage in intelligent discourse.

Part of my briefing was we leave race, religion, politics, and porn out of the cockpit ... received very few challenges to this

I wonder what you talk about then? Let me guess, you’re one of those CA’s that complains about your pay or what the company doesn’t give you... in front of guy/gals making far less. I’d rather listen to a CA BS about politics than being subconsciously degraded.

They a have a word for that, “Negging”.

Leave politics out of this entire conversation. The fact of the matter is this individual has insulted a large portion of our customer base. 40 percent of all revenue comes out of one state and its not Texas. The optics on this one are bad for the company, bad for revenue and bad for YOUR job.

This is how the FOM gets thicker, stupid policies that have to be put in place because we can not police ourselves.

That’s all this really is, some sorry liberal got upset and put in both the time and effort to make this public.
Next time just key the guys mic like this angry dude's F.O. obviously did...

I’m old enough to remember the conversation was “sex, salary and seniority”; we have sunk a long way.

Golf game, kids, cars, shooting if you're into it too, military stories if you served too, lawn care tips, what is your side gig, GA flying if you do it too, interesting stuff about each other's family, how much I hate painting (doing that today), other hobbies, you know, anything that doesn't lead to a fist fight on the ramp after the trip.
