Did we not learn from the last one!!
I was referring to Asian AMERICANS. AMERICANS of Asian descent. Not Asians in Asia. And don’t confuse the Chinese government as representing the the views its people, or other Asians. The fact remains, violent crime against Asian Americans have starkly increased within the last couple of years. And it’s not a coincidence with all that’s going on in this country socially and politically. There are people who have racist views in all cultures. I was referring to racism in America and our own citizens being increasingly attacked and killed.
Fine. Asian AMERICANS... ever seen any of them act racist?

The reasoning that some or, for argument’s sake, even all Asian Americans may be themselves racist doesn’t make anyone else’s racist behavior okay. None of us teach our children that two wrongs make a right. None of us teach our children to operate on the principle of tit for tat.

I think the point that is attempting to be made is that there has been an increase in race-based discrimination against Asian-Americans and it is not okay.
The reasoning that some or, for argument’s sake, even all Asian Americans may be themselves racist doesn’t make anyone else’s racist behavior okay. None of us teach our children that two wrongs make a right. None of us teach our children to operate on the principle of tit for tat.

And since it seems several SWA pilots in this thread don’t believe there’s an issue with the increasing violence against Asian Americans, I’ll say this. I don’t know of racist Asian Americans in my circle- though I’m sure they exist. Secondly- I don’t know of many incidents where Asian Americans targeted other races with verbal threats and epithets — or even violence. I’ve personally witnessed someone being shoved randomly on the sidewalk while being called all kinds of names, and while driving with an Asian American friend had a guy honk his horn and yell “go back to your country!” when our last president started calling this virus the Kung Flu/Wuhan/China virus around March last year. What’s sad is- the perpetrator had a Trump flag hanging off the back of his truck, and my friend actually voted for Trump in 2016. If you’re really bored, just google “Asian American hate crimes” to see for yourself.
Some of y’all truly live in bubbles, and even if you possibly might be trolling — even that begs the question if you’re mentally fit to fly and be entrusted with the lives of other people. Our industry is really slacking when it comes to psychological evaluations of commercial pilots. I wonder if those of you who replied to my post would actually say something like that to other people if this conversation was occurring in person, or if it’s easier to let your true colors show when you’re behind a keyboard on your overnight.
I miss the good old days of when overnights used to be fun and crews never cared about politics or race. But the wayward direction this country has been headed has really brought out the worst in some people. I wonder what Herb or Colleen would say if they saw some of the replies to my post. And it re-affirms my feelings of being ashamed of being “American.” This country was founded on immigrants- even of European origin. So unless y’all are indigenous to North America, your attitudes are ignorant and shameful. May the Lord bless you all and open your hearts and your minds.

Tmeister, so you’ve never been to Hawaii or spent any significant time there, have you? You’ve never had your kids harassed when they were little simply on account of them being white by “Asian Americans” or subjected to “Kill Haole Day”?
Ignorance can be such bliss...
Ironically, would you happen to have an idea which racial group is the one responsible for the overwhelming number of attacks on Asian Americans? Interestingly enough, it’s not the white folks, but your friendly African Americans... but I do chuckle at the attempt by the woke idiots blaming white people and their “racism” for black on Asian violence.
And yes, I’d tell you all this right to your face, especially if you tried to shame me for being white or talk tales about my inherent “white privilege” or “being racist.”
Racism is wrong and it’s evil, indeed. But I do find it comical how most of the ignorant dumba$$es think hating white people isn’t considered racist and don’t vigorously attack those who openly and brazenly show racial animosity and prejudice towards white people.
