The tenor in his voice makes me think this is the go home leg, he is from a "normal" part of the country and forced to spend 25 hrs in a place where you risk stepping in human feces or getting stuck with a needle walking down the sidewalk. But his layover in Memphis was 10 hours, a place with world class BBQ, not too big aka easy to get around, great people, enjoyable in every way, even the hotel!
BUT, it's totally inappropriate talk for around the office, without a doubt.

Yeah, Memphis was number 3 on the dangerous cities list in 2019. Worse than Baltimore. Last place I would be tooling around looking like a tourist.

The Asian American community in SF might beg to differ in light of all the violent physical and verbal attacks they’ve been encountering (especially with the anti-Asian rhetoric spewed by recent political leaders, and even “highly skilled and highly educated” pilots on this forum who make racist jokes about the Asiana pilots that crashed at SFO...) But I get your point. MEM certainly isn’t safer in terms of overall crime.

Xinjiang camps; present day re-education and cleansing that gets overlooked because of economic ties.

I was referring to Asian AMERICANS. AMERICANS of Asian descent. Not Asians in Asia. And don’t confuse the Chinese government as representing the the views its people, or other Asians. The fact remains, violent crime against Asian Americans have starkly increased within the last couple of years. And it’s not a coincidence with all that’s going on in this country socially and politically. There are people who have racist views in all cultures. I was referring to racism in America and our own citizens being increasingly attacked and killed.

I’m feeling incredibly woke right now. Anybody know who is racist towards and attacking all these Asian Americans? Its probably the Cossacks?
