That’s on you. It’s your choice how you chose to spend it. It can be a great opportunity

What exactly did you expect when you started in this line of work?

If it makes you feel any better, instead of making $200/TFP for a 3-day at 19.5 TFP that spends 60 hours away from home, you can think of it as getting paid $65/hr for your time on the road.

I guess it's not as bad if you put it that way. Still feel like it's a waste.

This is a total BS statement that is insulting to those of us that have been flying since their teens and struggled to get here to a major, which so far it seems like have you have not done.

Ive been flying for 30 years, longer than you have been alive I’m guessing, and been paid to do it as a PROFESSION since 1998.

If you want to be home in bed every night, get off your complaining as$ and go do it.

Aviation goes in cycles. The Lost Decade was hard. Hiring times now are hard. It’s how the football rolls. But we don’t stop playing until we hear the whistle.

You don’t like this gig. You say you aren’t good at it. You want to be at home.

Then do it. You will feel a lot better about yourself. And you better do it before it’s too late. Because tomorrow you will be 45 wondering how you got there so fast.

Aviation has been my lifeblood since I can remember. I can’t see myself doing anything else because I love it. I am blessed to be here.

Lots of money, status, toys, good looking dates, easy flying and working only on Tuesday and Thursday?

But in reality, he’s under 30 in a job he hates and is self proclaimed as “not good at.”

So there you go.

I didn't mean any offense to you or your profession. I'm sorry it came out that way. I agree that if I was to wait too long, it'd be too late and I'd be even more miserable than I am now.

I wanted to be like my great-uncle who owns a warbird fighter and another plane he flies for fun. He's a lot older, but I want to live that lifestyle and maybe these days are different than the "golden age." I want to be successful and I feel like I'm so behind the people I emulate.

I wanted to be a top of the seniority list FedEx 777 captain at 22, too, but here I am 14 years later just slinging gear in the right seat at SWA like a tremendously yuuge loser.

I would always walk with my head down and hope no one sees me and looks at me too long.

It sure as heck beats flying low-level in the mountains at night getting shot at and routinely scaring the be-jeezus out of yourself, then after being physically drained but mentally jacked up, having the luxury of going to a dark green - open air tent in the vain attempt to fall asleep with the ambient temp over 100*F desperately praying you'll get to sleep before the d@mn Marine Harriers come screaming over head at the speed of heat after their patrol.... D@mn Marines!!! I cussed them every morning HAHAHAHA! I still laugh at this 18+ years later.

I guess it's all perspective.
