Woooooow.
Wonder if that was the same Dallas guy that slapped the APU switch back off after I tried to start it, with 6 minutes until push, the bags and pax all loaded, and the and an agent who said, "let's get you guys out early!"
Well, we would have been early...
I'm glad the lunatics are few and far between, but man, they stick out when you hit one. The trip I'm on now has been fantastic. We just finished our second day, and I still have no idea who he voted for.

Not as fun as the guy...”you have to time turning on the apu so you connect power right as I shut down”. Or start 1 so I’m applying takeoff thrust exactly at 2 min. Or shutting down both engines on a taxiway in Atlanta.....

Ugh. I guess he didn't get the memo that we need a two minute warm-up now before using bleed air... then again, that's the kind of guy that kills the APU in the middle of summer when they're just thinking about manufacturing the air hose.

My favorite captain to fly with is PHX based. He did the first-leg brief after he did the walk. He asked if I had questions—I asked if he wanted me to start both and his answer was “always.”
Recently I got the opposite. Single engine always, don’t let me see the dual bleed light, don’t start the APU until we are ready to push, BWI-LAS landing with 5.0 is fine (after I mentioned they aren’t using 26L for winds gusting to 30 and moderate turb along the route in the upper levels. Hemhawed a bit but we got more gas.
Pushed back downhill and of course shut me down when I went to start #1. Guess what, after about 500% N1 to try to go we started the second engine.
Ive been a 121 FO going into my 13th year (year 6 at WN). I’m glad these stories are becoming less frequent.
When I upgrade, I expect a ***** slap if I do this stuff.

Some people make an easy job so god DAMN hard. This should be THE best job in the world. Most of the time it is. Except right now with the lockdowns and such.

I see you've flown with the Number 1 BWI Cappy as well?

That is frighteningly accurate. Flew with one guy who started his brief with "I'm pretty laid back".
A few minutes later the jetway pulls back so I turn on the beacon. He reaches up and turns it off.
"You turned that on too early. You're going to blind the rampers" he said.
"You ARE laid back!" I replied.
That was a long trip.
