Thank you. I’m beyond appreciative that you’ve explained what seniority is. I’ve always heard the word, but wasn’t really sure what it meant. I think you’re forgetting that there’s only two things in this industry that trump seniority - Luck and timing. Some people are great people and great pilots who retired on a clapped out ancient aircraft flying rubber dog poop for a low ball acmi carrier. There’s other not-so-great pilots who retire as widebody legacy captains. Other great pilot groups (like AirTran) have found themselves on the receiving end of a lubeless shafting. It sucks, it was unlucky and it wasn’t fair. It doesn’t mean that those that follow should have to follow the same path.
The only delusional one is you. Your bitter feelings seem to be overshadowing your common sense. If there were to be another merger or acquisition with, say, Spirit and the seniority list was integrated by DOH, those 4 year upgrade captains you seem to be so jealous of would be junior to you anyway. So what do you really care other than a desire to see other pilots get hurt the same way that you did? On the same token, should someone who spent their entire career with Spirit and has 25 years with the company deserve to be junior to YOU even though they would have more relative seniority (even if you did have a full and fair DOH integration during the AirTran purchase)?
Again, your attempt to defend your position only further showed what a miserable person you must really be. You don’t actually care about fairness, you just want to see other people get shafted the same way that you did. Admit it.. it’ll give you a little bit of satisfaction.
And no. I don’t work for Spirit.

The 717 was the best aircraft ever built.
No one at AT even wanted to come to SWA.
It is not about the money
The AT pilots took a pay cut
AT was going to purchase SWA
Let me know what I left out.
That said , I have always really enjoy flying with all of the AT pilots. It is a great group.

I do see the AT pilots point of view.

It seems that the vast majority of AT people are very happy, despite the loss of seniority. I met some who had applications at Southwest when the merger was announced and those guys felt like they won the lottery as they were prepared to start on the bottom of the list at year 1 pay.
I've only met 2 disgruntled Trannies in 5 years, and one of those readily admits that merging in at relative seniority would have been a huge windfall for AirTran as they had a far younger group.
The vast majority of guys say that it seemed like a bad deal at the time and felt like they were negotiating with a gun to their head, but over the course of their career, even after losing some seniority, virtually all admit they're far better off than they would have been at Tran.
Now, I've met plenty who complain about how we fly the plane and our procedures. I can relate to that. But overall, I'd say the overwhelming majority are great guys who are happy to be here and aren't a disgruntled bunch.

Every AT pilot I flew with was Great! Some more bitter than others, but all very professional, knowledgeable and willing to teach when asked a noob question.
The acquisition was before my time so I can't speak to the dynamics. But the 717 must've been a sweet ride! I Keed!
Seriously though, I have thoroughly enjoyed each trip with former AirTran folks.
