SWA WARN letters to pilots

Even if they are over the cap an out of domicile guy goes beneath them. It’s in the contract clearly plain as day. As for trip parking and such that only works with someone in domicile! That’s how the cartels work at Swa. They use each other’s boards. The only time an out of domicile guy will get a trip in another base is trip trade give away or straight open time with no one senior to him/her (system seniority) bidding on it. I think guys get frustrated because there is so much competition on every single thing that hits open time.

No kidding. Yet most pilots do not watch the trips CS assigns without even putting into open time . Some of the best deals are never put out for bid.

Yes, the WARN notices suck. The timing really sucks (before Xmas). But you company haters need to remind yourself of two things:
1. This pandemic created the greatest downturn to the airlines... ever. And hopefully for all time.
2. The company did offer the greatest deal ever offered to any pilot group to help shed numbers (VSP/ExTO)
Now, I don’t think the company will furlough (as long as the vaccine is effective). To those who say this action (sending WARN notices) will forever taint their view of our company: please leave (and help our pilot numbers too). Once the dust settles from this, I don’t want to be flying with SWA haters just because they sent WARN notices in the month of December. Would it have been much better if they were sent in Jan? Be realistic people.
I wasn’t kidding about leaving, please do.

A more accurate way to view it is:
The company had a contract with the pilots to pay them 88 TFP per month plus 15% NEC, sick, vacation etc.
Pilots then VOLUNTARILY TOOK A PAY CUT TO SAVE THE COMPANY (88 down to 55) and the company’s response is “Thank you, here is your furlough”.

Taking bets on rationalizations the kool-aid drinkers will use post-covid to explain the furlough letters as they're voting YES! on another sub-par SL, MOU, or CBA.
- "I don't live in the past."
- "Let bygones be bygones."
- "We were overmanned anyway."
- "How's that stock price?"
- "Gary had to issue the letters in order to get Congress to act. He saved jobs by sending the furlough notices."
- "You thought he was actually going to furlough? How naïve are you? If you believed that, I've got some waterfront property in AZ to sell you. Gary plays 4-D chess. Sorry you fell for it. Grrrr hrrr hrr hr."

I would tell what I think you should do to yourself, but it's in violation of the FOM now.
So I'll just say, "Bless your heart".
