I’m aware of that, and I never said you need a credit score to get a mortgage. However I like to shop around and get the best rates when I get a mortgage, and not every lender is going let me borrow, if I don’t have a FICO score. Most rental car places will not let you rent a car, unless you have a credit card. Dave said at one point he pays more for car insurance because he has no credit score. Most car dealership will give you a better deal if you finance as opposed to pay cash. This is why I take discount and pay it off once I get my first statement. You can do all those things, but do you really want to deal with the hassle or pay higher rates because you don’t have a credit score?

Here's the thing to remember about that guy - he borrowed his way into bankruptcy and it woke his *ss up. That's fine; I'm glad it did. But to advocate for paycuts when they take years, sometimes decades, to get back, is just asinine. All this from a guy who preaches about how your INCOME is your greatest wealth building tool.
Now, how can you build wealth if you're laid off/furloughed? You can't at that job. For sure. But you'd rather have a good contract to come back to where you can start back up easier than a decimated contract.
What do I know though? I'm just a union employee.

Bingo. My schedule yesterday had 3 legs, with a 1+15 and a 2+30 sit inbetween. That's not a normal workday for us until recently. The duty hour rig helped the pay somewhat, but there's no doubt we're working longer days for less money because the trips are much less productive per day. We've taken a huge cut already.

Slammin' Dave
In the past, I did business with Dave Ramsey. I can tell you first hand that Dave looks out for Dave. You don't like it? His minions will talk to you like you're an idiot.
Dave has made a fortune helping a few and insulting many. Take his words with a grain of salt.

It’s not about “what we have already given”, it’s about optics. My wife can hardly understand our contract rules let alone how I get paid and all the factors influencing my monthly TFP totals so how do you expect Joe Smoe or even our “cohearts” to understand. All they see is we have not taken a BASE pay decrease to “share in the struggle” we are being Virtue Shamed.
For those who have not had a non-union job this is how it goes. You show up to work and are told you have been given a pay decrease, and that X amount of people will now be part time, X amount have been let go, and no overtime.

Quite frankly I could give two $7its about the “optics”. I’m a fixed cost to the airline. Attorneys charge XXX/hr. So do I and I advocate that to be a respectable hourly wage.

please tell those folks that as far as “optics” they can kiss my pale white a$$. They’re not the one that had to pay the dues that we paid ($16.18/hr flying rjs, flying cargo in less than safe conditions, etc., etc.). The lost decade.
