Watterson and Kelly are up to something. MIA, IAH, and ORD are Legacy hub airports in markets that we already have a dominant presence. Operating in that zone has been happening a lot more in the last few years in small bits, but this is a huge leap forward in a very short time. I am interested to see what the end game is here.

I know one thing, any talk of concessions beyond what we have already given (This is the first year my take home pay has decreased YOY in a very long time) should immediately be off the table. It's going to be hard to find any employee group that has given more than we have already and I am not forcing my family to go without so that we can expand into new markets.

It's all pointing to something. I've said it time and time again and this time it may require more patience, but an acquisition was and is still planned. LUV is nowhere near dire straits, but why not play on the heartstrings of your employees. Kelly didn't forfeit his salary until the free money was gone. Kelly wants non-contract employees to take a pay cut after contract employees took a pay cut of 50% from May through August followed by an additional 6, 12 or 18 months leave. LUV employees have dealt with pay cuts since March 2019 when the Max was grounded.

They won't all stick. Much like EWR, some will die while others make it.

This is an opportunity to try several at once, with low relative risk.

I wonder if M&A restrictions were part of the government loans SWA turned down?

Hmm. You might be on to something there.

I really believe UAL and AA are mortally wounded. Maybe not in the sense of absolute extinction, but perhaps each at no more than 50% of their former selves. We go to places like STL, PHX, DEN, BNA etc. and we are 5-10 tails for every one of the other companies. Our concourses and gates have semi-normal numbers of passengers, they're gates are closed or empty. TSA Throughput is rising rapidly and we are capturing traffic. If we play hardball, we may own half of the domestic market.

I'm pretty sure there was, if I recall from march/april when I was reading more about the details.

I’m not on Facebook, but I hear there are lots of people over there complaining that we need to take an additional pay cut beyond what we already have in order to #savedean.

Can any of you who are on Facebook shed some light? If that’s true, it just underlines how truly clueless so many in this group are. The company’s proposal is nothing more than an idiot test. If we send it to the membership (first mistake) and then approve it (colossal mistake), we are idiots.

I have only seen one comment in support of this and it was on here
