I agree, there wasn’t any new information in this email, This seems like it was intended for DC rather than the pilot group. Nobody should be surprised that we can’t continue to lose $17M/day without furloughs on the horizon.

I agree, most of the communications are directed at posturing for DC. Everything said or calculated today before the election is worthless. Congress on both sides are holding funding hostage. The hopes are in a “in the black” summer 2021 and we need pilots for that. SWA wants to be Johnny on the spot when travel demand increases and pick up market share along the way “low hanging abandoned fruit”. They can’t do that if they furlough to profitability.
They have an abundance of cash compared to the competition, but they will not burn through it until it’s gone, just to turn the lights off when they close the doors. So, what do you do?
Getting Bail out money let’s SWA keep their own money, and buys us 6 mo of wait and see.
Without the bail out money, SWA will burn through some of their money for the wait and see, but for how long, only Gary and CO know. My guess will be until March/April. They will know the summer bookings by then.

Hopefully this spring, the industry will be able to make real projections about how big demand will be going forward. I doubt it can happen any earlier.

I like your optimism. Remember we don’t have to get to net zero to save jobs. We just have to get somewhere that doesn’t burn $17 mil a day. We need a PSP and a vaccine, oh and the media to shut up about it. I’m not sure how much revenue new cities bring.

Well now the Senate goes home for the next 2 weeks to hide from Covid, so it’ll be weeks before PSP if it happens at all. American said if they didn’t have it by the 4th they would have to go ahead with the furloughs - irreversible.
Why either side would want to risk tens of thousands of job losses 30 days before an election is beyond me. ESPECIALLY Rick Scott with domiciles in MIA, FLL, and MCO. What a clown show.
Meanwhile back at the SWAPA forum the usual cast of malcontents doesn't want their cheese moved. They don’t want to even entertain the idea of helping the company out to prevent furloughs. Why should they? THEIR jobs aren’t in immediate jeopardy.

Right now the only thing anyone is asking is to take ETO if you’re able and willing. Beyond that, I won’t even talk about what I would or won’t do. Neither should you or anyone else.
