I heard from someone in the GO that the caps are placed on flights 10 days in advance. The flight will show 143 available seats up until that 10 day mark. Once we're 10 days out, the cap is put in place and if there are any tickets sold over 93, another flight is added.

This info is from June so it might be dated but it seems to be accurate today.

Flight I wanted to book in Oct showed unavailable last month. Swalife showed 50 open (cap not applied). Just looked and it has seats available at a price of $560 one way (swalife showing 64 open)...looks like it was upgraded from a -700 sometime in the last month. Int’l so doubt another section will be added. Good to see some flights are full though.

I haven’t seen anything like that but I mostly do west coast stuff which is empty because CA is stupid....
So I definitely have to agree with and give you props for your second point.

From the SwaLife nonrev page:
As part of our Southwest Promise, we are temporarily limiting the capacity on our flights to allow for one-third of the seats to remain open, through November. We will not be able to accommodate revenue or non-revenue Passengers above those capped capacities. (Though we are actively watching these numbers and adding extra sections or changing to larger aircraft when necessary.) The SWALife listing tool reflects the actual number of seats for sale, including the adjusted capacity on the flight, at the time of listing. If the number listed in the "Capacity" column is either 143 or 175, then the capacity for that flight has not yet been adjusted.

Im looking at nonrevving next month. I’ve done a little experimenting with the dates... it appears they apply the cap at 8 days out.

I mean, we can figure it out, if It says 80 seats available on a 700, just subtract 143-80, which is 63 sold. Cap at 93, so 93-63 is 30 seats available for sale. But if it has only 50 (93 seats sold) available then its sold to the cap and listed as "Unavailable".. on the SWA app. So potential customers can't book. Seems a bit odd.

There are people who are paid well to figure/sort this stuff out in order to maximize the company's revenue at a time when every dollar matters.

Hint. These people are not called "pilots".😉
