They receive training on Southwest polices/procedures and the 737 as part of the program. Once they reach new hire class they are on the same track as any other new hire. A batch started early May so they are a few weeks out from completing IOE and being on the line.

And a friend flew with a CA that had an FO that wasn’t comfortable with him leaving to go use the restroom. She had never been in charge of an aircraft before. I would have had her replaced upon landing. Good luck when the poop hits the fan.

Not sure if this has been asked already, but I was just on Southwest.com. I clicked the links on the Destination 225 link. I'm currently a bit over 500 tt. and getting all my instructor ratings. Can I join Destination 225? From what it looks like the answer is no. It seemed at least to me, that you have to start at zero, or at least have your PPL. Because they had links to flight schools and financing. Also can you REALLY get hired at WN with only 500 hrs of turbine time?

There are three categories. Cadet, University, Military. Maybe you fit the university program?

The SWA careers page details hiring mins.

Yeah I fit in none of those categories. Just a 25 yr. old who passed on college and went to flight school instead, while working.

You don’t need D225. Go find somewhere to fly 100+ hours per month, get some turbine time, and plan to get your ATP soon as your reach 1500TT. You are less than a year from interviewing.

And apply everywhere, not just SWA.

WTF? So she has zero PIC time in any aircraft?

Besides, she'll figure out soon enough that the ops agent and the provisioners are in charge of the airplane at the gate, not us!

Nothing more than a Cessna or light twin.
