Circumstances of being in the right place at the right time… in the right family tree… A ton of Delta propel kids coming up through the regionals that were hired at Delta with less than 200 hours of piston time. Cup Cake interview process that maybe lasts two hours containing basic HR questions from an actual pilot showing up to these colleges on a “feel good” campaign. How’d they score such an interview? Parents employed at Delta.
They also get their hand held through their short regional career by having unlimited access to mentors who know a thing or two about the business and how to maintain success. Good for them, no hate, but you’re delusional if you think “60 hours of of Seminole time” is the real standard at Southwest. GMAFB.
Right place, right time. It’s better to be lucky than good.

Incidentally, Feds say the Max 7 won't be certified by the end of the year. Which means we are reliant upon congress's willingness to grant an extension to grow the airline.
Hiring may be the least of our worries.
