If you live in NYC/BOS/LGB, JB.

Otherwise, I’d pick SWA.

I picked SWA over AA, AS, DL, UA, and FDX. Almost 5 years later, I’m still happy with my decision and I think it was the right one for me. I think JB has a fantastic inflight product and they have a cool niche. I don’t think their new contract is amazing, mostly because of what they got in exchange for submitting to the PBS beast. But it’s a very good contract.

I think the other companies I turned down are awesome, some more than others, but from what I’ve learned in my first few years.... I’m very happy with my SWA decision. And I tell my buddies the same thing and why.

This thread turned ugly a while ago, hopefully you got some good information from it and made the best choice for you. Along with the rest of the readers following along.

There are a couple of serial commenters on here that are just better to ignore rather than take what they say as anything truthful or close to reality. A couple of actual SWA pilots who are real Debbie Downers, for their own reasons, and a few more who like to just waste people’s time online.

I’d probably choose Southwest if I lived in LGB as well. Our new hires will be getting LAX right out of training, and no redeyes yet anyway.

Live in BOS or NYC? Different story.

All who live in NY/BOS maybe B6- All others SWA all day long. Dont come to an airline that is barely a major.
B6 will always hate its pilots and operate on a skeleton crew. We have very little control over our schedule due to dangerously low staffing year round.
SWA- final answer.

I'm heading that direction ... still thinking of a possible command upgrade in 3 years at JB but ...but the stuffing problem might be lucrative and pretty dysfunctional of your family/work balance! SWA looks more pragmatic for sure ...

Jetblue has always been PBS, line bidding was never an option. I also prefer PBS, having experience with both.

You'd probably be well served to spend a couple of nights line dancing at the Round Up Saloon prior to indoc. That'll teach ya!

Um, a little clarification here. The Max is certified for ETOPS. United, Westjet, and Air Canada WERE flying the MAX (8/9) to Hawaii prior to the grounding.

SWA Max’s are not yet approved for ETOPS flying.

I know - nuances......
