Weird indeed. You can’t refuse something that is never offered because you don’t bid it. Ask the nearly 1000 FOs that don’t.

I’m glad SWA doesn’t force upgrades.

I apologize ... "refuse" is not correct.

As of August, with the deliveries that are currently not being delivered along with the 34 airplanes that are already parked we will be down 42 total from what was planned. We staff at 13 pilots per airplane. So, I would say that puts the overstaff at 546. We haven’t even cancelled a class yet. Interesting times.

Yes but as soon as the MAX is fixed you will be crashing HAL from any Californian airports ... and if you want you can start a BWI-Europe since you are already ETOP qualified ... JB still needs a couple of years to get there!

I think that is the company avoiding premium time. They would rather have a reserve spend 2 days deadheading to fly 1 leg, then pay premium when they don’t have reserves. Maybe it’s cheaper this way, I don’t know.

my last 3 months of reserve I've been used all but 2 days.

if there aren't 20 trips going premium (per base) every day, guys scream we are overstaffed.

JB won’t take as long for ETOPS as we did. We had to rewrite the book on ETOPS because it simply wasn’t good enough for us. This, of course, made the approval process take longer. Since ETOPS procedures are now perfected, JetBlue can simply piggyback off our contribution to the industry.
