SWA or JetBlue

Wait is that word “scab?” Too soon? LOL
I just flew with a captain that checked every jumpseater against the master list. Had a separate one for the Tran.
The last one on was stowing his bags and I mentioned “he’s like 24 and with Compass. I doubt he’s on the list.”
Good times!
There is also always someone dumber, slower, and weaker too.

9/11 - no furloughs at Southwest. Profit Sharing paid.
Great Recession - no furloughs at Southwest. Profit Sharing paid.
AirTran merger and parking 88 aircraft - all pilots kept, no furloughs, Profit Sharing paid.
79 Classics parked virtually overnight - no furloughs. Profit Sharing Paid.
34 planes temporarily grounded?

So again unless you live in NYC/BOS/FLL areas, SWA is the answer.

Upgrade is a tricky topic for a SWA/JB comparison. Both upgrade times are highly dependent on growth, and a much smaller pilot group at JB can easily lead to a faster upgrade with fewer actual bodies being added. However, if the economy tanks or one or both of SWA/JB stop growing, the upgrades will stagnate rapidly. At least SWA will eventually have some retirements ramp up, but I don’t see retirement numbers on the JB overview page.

Which airline doesn’t have a junior base? If anything SWA is much more balanced than other airlines in terms of base seniority. And “refuse your upgrade” is a weird way to put it. You can list exactly the order of base and seat preference you want to bid.
