I just returned from my 6 mos FO leadership class in DAL. We had the chance to talk with some of the hiring people and they said their goal is to do in house job fairs and get away from the others. The next job fair will most likely be the last weekend of April and they might try to make it more of an invite type thing to the most qualified people that have apps in. They may also look at 2 days worth of job fair. These forums were a really big help to me and I got hired in June. Hang in there guys and things will work out! Former Skywest guy with 10000hours, 2000 Jet pic. 4 year degree. No check airman but went to job fair in April. The job fairs are a really big deal at LUV! Good luck!

Did they say how any total pilots they want before they slow down the hiring machine? There’s a little over 9000 now.

Not sure on long term plans other than eventual global domination. This year is firm 656 but that number will go up, probably to around 900. I think I remember someone saying eventually 12000 pilots but a lot can change.

Really hard to dominate globally with a 737 and fear of change.

The next job fair that I'm aware of is in May, the OBAP Spring convention in Vegas.

The Women in Aviation Conference is March 22nd-25th.

I can't imagine Southwest not attending.

The line from WAI is no fast-passes this year; all the schedule has blocked off are hiring briefs. Not sure if there'll be any recruiters meeting face to face with candidates or accepting resumes.

Anyone else find it odd/disheartening that they haven’t posted anything else about a job fair? Man this stinks! Also any ideas on the next app window?

We’ll be there, but not in the same capacity as in recent years. The events to focus on are the in-house job fairs.
