That is a persistent rumor. There are a lot of complex issues with this one too, as our contract has a lot to say about a merger with a carrier like COPA. The company would have to come to us for relief and I don't think it would pass muster with swapa.
COPA would, however, make the most sense for swa in terms of value.

There are foreign ownership laws that would come into play. Much easier to forge an alliance than try to operate a multi national air carrier and deal with all of the cabotage issues and freedoms of the air.
