There are many that still try to keep the old school "initiation" tradition in play. Like Ron White says, "Once you've seen a pair you want to see them all." While I can't guarantee you any of this aspect, you have a 90% chance that the captain (or even senior FO's) will pay for your beers at the overnight.

I've had every CA buy my beer and I'd say half buy my dinner as well. One CA felt bad that we were overnighting in his home (he went home and slept in his own bed), so he forced me to take a $20 and said use this for beer/dinner.

Um, no. As the great Sergeant Shultz once said.... "I know nothing. I see nothing!"

Yes. It still takes place. More likely to happen with either a Vegas or a Phoenix crew and believe me, those are two very different animals.

Oh dude I am one phone holster away from full on dorkdom myself. I didn't say it happened to me, just that it happens.
Not to say I haven't seen some interesting scenarios on late night PM trips, but for the most part I tend to either just go to bed or not care these days. Something about keeping all my stuff and seeing my kids all the time makes the allure of staying up past two beers seem a little less exciting.

What items did you find most useful to prestudy before training?
How often were you able to make it home?

Bring a laptop, or will a tablet be fine?
Where are guys doing IOE?

Thanks
Buddy just went through. He had laptop and tablet, local guy so was easy getting home. He used 1StepPrep 737 preoral video before showing up and said that helped him.

Otherwise just followed instructors guidance and it was straight forward.

90 tfp at $67.32/tfp so plan on roughly $6k/mo for 3 months. After that you'll be getting per diem and crediting whatever you work.
