Compass just closed their DTW base and opened PHX. They also have LAX and PDX.
This mentality is the problem. Wanting to get in and get out does not mean you can’t unionize while you are still on property in order to make it better. It’s a good insurance policy in case you find yourself stuck longer than planned.
The timing right now is good. You have more than four years before a new pay package. After unionizing, it’ll take about 2 years to get a contract.

They are working harder, but still filling classes.
Oz has common language, common culture, no security worries, good GA infrastructure (plenty of pilots, real pilots vice MPL), and painless right to work path. That's the first place they'd look after Canada.
Plus it's a bit of a hassle to change employers on a work visa...

I know and no one seems to care that they are doing it to avoid as long as they can to raise pay. They are importing pilots because they cannot get enough pilots at the compensation level they are currently offering. If they could fill classes with US pilots they would not be importing pilots and to get around raising pay they started looking at importing pilots. Looks a bit like Norwegian stuff to me....it can also be seen as importing cheap labor as not enough US pilots wants to work for the current pay.....must fill classes.....right
It's obvious that they can't fill classes with the subpar pay scale that passes for industry-mocking. We've even had FOs bail for competitors lately! That says a lot...
They'll do whatever they must to protect their cheap payscale. I keep telling you guys to make your exit as soon as you can manage it. Don't waste a moment here longer than you must. Only after a mass exodus of pilots takes place will future SkyWest pilots benefit.

Thank the US govt for that lovely one way work visa program. SkyWest is just taking advantage of it.

To my understanding Australia has the 457 visa program for you yanks, under which quite a few have jumped the puddle & immigrated to the island. It does go both ways my friend
