If they see a trend in declining hiring numbers and an increasing exodus of FOs they will be back to the bargaining table long before 2022.

You should have signed a 20 year contract then, if it doesn’t make a difference. Is this like the last pay deal that allows management to unilaterally increase first year pay as well?

Five year deals nowadays is just giving away leverage.

We have been netting 50 a month. 45 new aircraft is ruff math 600 pilots needed. Were over staffed on the ERJ to begin with. So OO will be nust fine the next year.. after that the Demand at the Majors starts to spike and things will get interesting..

how about.....no? we're doing just fine over here. watch and see, hopefully you learn quick.

I don’t see the issue with credit or better. It’s actually genius to align incentives between all three groups.
Last month I was awarded “x” block. Looking back I flew “x” block.
I was awarded “x” + 10% for credit.
Looking back I was paid “x” + 14%. I was paid for every hour I flew + 14%, I think we have bigger other items to spend bargaining capital on.

Our customers track fuel consumption very closely and our executing the block saves them $. They don’t want early and they don’t want late.

Thank you! Trust me, 44% of the pilots here agree with you. The mentality of some of the guys at this airline is hilarious. I had a guy tell me, "you should stop asking for more and more all the time. We should be thankful to have a job in the first place and that it's better than it's ever been at Skywest right now." The kool aid is strong here.

This is the mentality I'm talking about. We have no commuter hotels, no commuter parking, no retention bonuses, no overtime for 85+ hours, no per diem protection for displacement, no guaranteed interview, no flow, no real representation......so what do we have? West coast bases and a turkey coupon. Yea, we're doing just fine.

Not that I necessarily agree with your premise to begin with but how is having block or better not aligning incentives? The only people that historical block hurt is the crew.

You do you boo! I'll be over here doing my thing

And the last guy touched on why we fly slow, no reason to touch on that. If someone wants to be the guy who flys as fast as possible just to get to a busy airport early and your gate is occupied and sit there for 45 minutes go right ahead.

I do. I do get it.
I “missed” out on .38% of pay last month because of “credit or better” instead of “block or better”
Yet I was paid 14% more than I blocked.
.38% is a very small price to pay to know that 4,500 pilots are out there rowing this airline in the same direction.

Careful what you wish for.
We’ve all been in plenty of OAL J/S to know we don’t want that fuel wasting at a contract airline.
Incentive.
