Thanks for that.
Now might be a GREAT time to do that, if you're going to.
Lock status quo when the company really needs to attract new hires, and then hold FO pay rates hostage for the benefit of the rest of the group.
Possible risk that they might call the bluff and shrink rather than pony up.

I was just going to say something to this effect. This is what I’ve been telling you guys for a long time. There is leverage to be had right now laying on the table free for you guys to seize it. But instead you guys agree to a 5 year low ball pay package.
Anyway, shrinkage is inevitable. Skywest has 53 aircraft on pro-rate agreements that only need 30-120 days notice of termination. That’s 600 pilot cushion.

Didn't Skywest lock in their profits for the next 5 years with that 1% raise? If they expand they risk all of that. Maybe they will get 100 new planes and give back 100 or 200?

They won’t give back any 200’s. Thry are the money makers now.. most paid off or on very cheap leases.. yes the 5 year pilot contract, allowed for the purchase of 100 aircraft, approved by the BOD....

They are both UAL and dal aircraft.
If they had to park any, their only choice are the pro-rate 200s that can be terminated with 30-120 days notice. Everything else is on a long term cpa. Maybe there are a handful that expire here and there.

Will revisit this in a year. But 45 years has shown that they haven’t had to do such “reductions”.. and the list keeps growing.. And a walk through the school house and FSI show full NH and CPT classes..

If a pay deal is going to happen, then they better be quick about it. Before a certain something gains enough traction and prevents Inc. from even having that option in the short term. If it comes to a point where they need to raise pay to attract pilots, but are no longer legally able to, it could make things difficult.
Lawsuits, giant *new hire* bonuses, LOAs are everywhere anyway. Not to mention the guns stuck to the heads of 9e, Republic, PSA, horizon and Envoy of late, not to mention Asa/Xjet.
Both sides have a full arsenal they can deploy...or not.
