Skywest v2.0

You ALWAYS give this excuse that nothing union works at a regional. That cannot be any farther from the truth! But let's just assume you are correct about noobs and captains just wanting their pic and out, that doesn't refute what I said. It's the line pilot who is responsible. Whether that be a captain mentoring noobs or captains being enough of a professional to do the right thing. Anything else is just an excuse. Anyway, it's not like house cleaning has never happened on a regional mec. So let's just stop with the excuses already.
I'm not actually opposed to alpa at regionals, just had a bad experience once and want folks to understand the reality.

Now now. Some people want ATL. And surprisedly lots of MSP/DTW/DTW local folks have been hired. They are smart to crew the “east coast” ERJ Delta flying from ORD to start.. but i bet you see a lot more recruiting from the East coast...

The media would have a field day if they get to report about an accident on a recently hired pilot in his second year flying a jet that was forced to upgrade to captain against their will. That kind of news shuts a place down.
Also, what would be the ultimatum from the company? Upgrade or they will fire you? Regional pilots are scarce enough as it is without giving away the ones you have. If they fire them now they are looking for a CA and FO.
Lastly, an ultimatum such as that usually doesn’t sit well with employees. Maybe people would likely just quit (since it’s just a regional anyway) and it would deter others from coming here in the first place who don’t want the junior bases.
None of these things are helpful when you are already fighting other airlines to get any and all available pilots.

What is the Skywest approach? I'm reluctant to try Envoy because of being displaced to a CA almost immediately (I have 900+ hours of 121 time from 20 years ago.)
Will Skywest allow a guy to defer upgrade until he/she's comfortable?

Yes they'll let you defer, but anything's possible in the future depending how bad staffing gets.

Thank you for the reply. I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable asking that in an interview.
Is there a good source for aircraft/bases for Skywest?

SkyWest will just hire street Captains and offer soft landings 2.0 and a bonus to attack them..
