Reserve Horizon vs Skywest
I know reserve is going to suck regardless. I am trying to make the best decision possible between these 2. I live in Sacramento will at least try a commute for a little while while on reserve. I know its not recommended, but between these 2, who will give me more days off between reserve days? Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Reserve will be 100% the same. If you're a commuter, go crj. Erj reserve is serious

Go ERJ. And, you will be commuting to SFO out of IOE or shortly afterwards. But, on reserve.
Where are you trying to be based? Are you trying to remain in SMF? That doesn't sound like a good plan.

"If the intent was to "make it work", they would have never forced us into money losing CPAs, that are still dogging us to this day. "
So they signed a bad contract where they have lost money for a decade while you an employee have made money for a decade?
Why would any business continue this arrangement?

My recommendation for ASA/Xjet pilots is simple, and in this order: 1) jump to the majors 2) move to SKW and be at the bottom (rumors a CA based in DTW did that for QOL and made CA here within a year) 3) leave to another regional if you can't stomach SKW 4) wait and just continue to be unhappy.
2. Not going to happen unless they live in a Skywest base and/or have no respect for themselves
3. Most likely scenario. Go somewhere that offers a bonus and career advancement not just lies and empty promises.
4. Another possibility... many will enjoy watching this place burn and not even consider ****ing on the flames until it's no longer worth it for them. Most guys here have their lines in the sand already and are just waiting for the tide to come in.

As far as #2, aren't all ASA/Xjet bases eventually going to become SKW bases if you wait long enough? That seems to be a combination of #4 and #2.
And for #3, it is clear there is no FO advancement at ASA/Xjet, with CAs flying the right seat because of a shortage of FOs. The situation seems dire.
I have no clue why you are not doing #3 already. TransStates and Mesa both promise a 16 month upgrade or allow street captains. Plenty of other bonus programs out there. If I was flying a ERJ145 or a CRJ with dim prospects, both of those look like reasonable programs.

Go CRJ. You won't be on reserve. Commuting to Detroit on the other hand won't be great.

If you look at the attrition predicted for the majors, #1 should be viable for any pilot who doesn't come off like a jerk and has sufficient tpic, assuming Congress doesn't raise the retirement age. SKW is bleeding pilots to Delta and Southwest.
