I haven't seen the actual writing of the policy from the SKW side, but I wouldn't be surprised that as an XJT pilot, I would have to go back to XJT. No point in soft landing on a sinking ship...

Are you able to pick whether you get the CRJ or the 175? Or do they use a OML to determine who gets what?

If you're going to do that much work just for money, you may as well just keep an undesirable carrier like Allegiant....considering they make a hell of a lot more than Skywest does....
LMAO exactly. Plus the upgrade at those outfits isn't all too high. One year or less at G4. Leaving a LCC for a regional is downright stupid.

I think the soft landing policy is more effective for someone who doesn't make it through training for whatever reason and decides to come back to their regional.

Given the way we all assume the XJT/ASA scenario is playing out I am surprised they are excluded. It would be a good way to secure a very preferential supply.

Maybe it isn't time yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they open it up once the final days are near.

As far as I know you can still pick. That may change as the ERJ deliveries start coming to a close, I'm not sure. They may try to encourage you one way or another but it's up to you. ERJ classes seem to be about 15 per class and CRJ 25-30 per class. Each starting every two weeks currently.

If you really need a West coast base, go ERJ. Otherwise CRJ would provide the greatest career potential at this point with fastest upgrade (by far) and minimal if any reserve time.

Last time I called in sick, they used my vacation time because I didn't have enough user. Do I have the option of not using vacation time on sick call?

Hypothetically- I have vacation scheduled and just enough vacation time to cover it. If I call in sick for a trip right before the vacation with not enough user time to cover the entire sick call, what will happen?

Soft landing is something that company wanted by evidence of how quickly and out of nowhere it was marched through the process. 2.0 is coming too but has more than a student council to deal with.
Ending the cuffed 18 year pay scale opens pilots to a more free market.

I've met one softlander, so they are already out there.
