Most regional (or major) airline pilots don't care about first year pay or sign-on bonuses. That's the company's problem with regard to recruiting. Once on the seniority list, pilots are concerned with long-term compensation and stability.

I suggest you go try a regional that has a big sign-on bonus instead of SKW (just hope to God you don't get stuck there). There's a reason for those bonuses. Enjoy.
In fact I'm good with my seniorty already at SKW but do I want what others are getting for me and everyone else but not sure why you Rickair7777 are so against that? Then again you say most regional pilots dont care about first year pay or sign ons ? well as you said yourself "there's a reason for those bonuses"

Next.

No, the time frame does not line up for the "soft-landing" benefit to have an ounce of anything to do with AA WO recent first-year bumps.
Look at the document yourself, that final draft was dated this Spring. Understand the leg work started long before that.

Well both the soft landing or AA's pay bumps were not crafted in a night obviously. From my view company A has a strategy style and company B has another. One will get compensated more and the other less. We should be getting the same as they and people should not be confusing the soft landing as a real benefit. Check my first post as this is the consistent point.
In APC forum style just to really hammer this home "money talks and bull**** walks"

cheerio I'm off to enjoy the day.

I think you should walk. Since you think it's so much better at the AA WO you should go there. In a year and a half (sooner?) when Skywest renegotiates it's contract you'll know if you made a good choice.

Never said it was better at AA if you could find that for me and requote me please. I have only been pointing out what these new policies at skw really are. You have an issue with that ? Ok, but I'm looking for us all at skw to get compensated correctly and not get their streams crossed with these "amazing" benefits for the skw pilot group which is what I was responding too.
But thanks.

If they wait that long it will be to late. They are already struggling to fill classes and keep up with attrition. United has not really been hiring for the last 5 months and now they are ramping back up so you can expect twice as many pilots leaving per month next year.

If true then now is the time to be sweetening the pot. Unlike CS its time to be proactive not reactionary for the time that we are all here which hopefully is relatively short.

This.

United slowed down due to the relocation of all their training operations to DEN, as well as an expansion of the current facility. By this time next year it will all be up and running. A buddy of mine there says that 700 new pilots isn't an unreasonable number for 2017.

Companies that are offering sign on and retention bonuses are doing so because they can't attract pilots in any other way, usually long upgrades and or crappy old planes. Endeavors bonus program ends soon. Ask yourself would any airline just give out 20k to each pilot if it was the place to work and could attract people....if yes that's some seriously generous management and they moist
Love their labor!!!
