Facts? See below.
"Today, 4.1 percent of airline transport pilots (ATPs) are women, 2.7 percent are black or African-American, 2.5 percent are Asian and 5 percent are Hispanic or Latino."
Source... Airlines' flight decks lack diversity | TheHill
Do you really think that these folks are really getting hired in front of 85% of everyone else? There are also many young white male FOs with ZERO PIC who get hired because of connections. Life isn't fair, but don't blame everyone else because you can't get hired is my point.
That anger shows through and won't help you one bit.

Find me this data and I'll find the answer to support whoever is correct.
percentage of female pilots at majors (percentage of major pilots that are female)
And percentage of female pilots at regionals. (Again, percentage regional pilots who are females)
If these numbers tip one way or the other, there's your answer. I am not saying either one of you is right, I'm just saying use facts and not anecdotal evidence to make claims

Connections are a part of life and the human condition, somebody worked hard and succeeded and now are in a position to help people they know. Complaining about that is pssing in the wind.
Government-mandated affirmative action on the other hand can be summed up in two letters.

There are a lot more women pursuing aviation now than 30 (or even 20) years ago.

So many folks focus on BS'ery like this instead of making themselves stand out & more competitive. Don't mean to pick on you but I can't count the number of times the following exchange has happened...
Random White Male Pilot: "Man, it's always chicks & minorities getting hired this sucks."
Me: "Umm...yeah you do know that only about 4% of ATPs are women and all minorities make up like 9% of the rest of us?"
RWMP: "But, but...whatever man they still get hired in front of me!"
Me: "What have you done in the past few years to make yourself more competitive?"
RWMP: "Drink beer, whine about others getting hired and play Xbox."
Me: "Cool."

Ok then, I revise my question. Take the demographic of mainline pilots with under 2 years seniority. If that demographic doesn't match regionals, then we can start finding problems. But even then we have to adjust for military and prior experience.
It's easy to point and say yeah she's a woman of course she got hired. But I know plenty who can't even get a call.

You`re not picking on me, I have already moved on to a legacy. Just think it is a crock of **** that big titties trumps experience. And i have no problem telling any of them to their face. Of course I would spin the "tittles" part in a more intelligent format. Hooters maybe
Let's say a regional captain and his FO are down at the bar one night having dinner and the FO recognizes a friend who works at a legacy. A certain legacy whom the captain has wanted to work for all his life. The legacy guy comes over to join for a drink, the conversation ebbs & flows and overall goes well. As the evening progresses it turns out the legacy pilot happens to be on the hiring team. Bonus!
After awhile the discussion turns to hiring practices and the regional captain decides to get foaming at the mouth angry about a fraction of a fraction of pilots he believes is taking his job. "I'm owed this job, these kids and titties don't know a wing from an engine." Right.
Now...do we believe the well-connected legacy pilot will remember the fact that our regional captain was a check airman with 8,000 hours TPIC? Or will he remember that this dude decided to vent about the perceived reasons he isn't getting hired and showed an ugly side? It could go either way of course, but a bad attitude will leave a bad taste in a hurry.
Attitude. It's all about attitude is my point.
I'm no fan of affirmative action either. I also have buddies waiting for the call who are well qualified. But I've also heard guys first hand complain about this issue but refuse to do something about it. I don't know the formula nor the magic to getting a call but I do know this business is small and attitude goes a very, very long way.
