Skywest v2.0

The 175 in ORD is not the place to be like it used to be. I'm a little more than 2.5 years in and bid in the top 15% so my schedules are amazing... With that being said I'm taking the upgrade into the CRJ so that I can get some PIC and hopefully move on. I flew with a reserve Captain the other day who has been on reserve for 1.5 years and has less than 200 hours logged, that's not going to help your resume much. The growth for the plane looks like it's going everywhere but Chicago and the senior CRJ captains in ORD are transitioning over to the 175 keeping it perpetually senior. For those contemplating what to do you'll need to ask yourself what do you want?.... PIC, money, a specific schedule, depending on your answers to that you'll be able to determine which fleet and seat will suit you best.

50 ERJs that are NOT going to ORD. Majority of those are going to be on the west coast with a few MAYBE hitting DEN and ORD. There is a reason the DVR has had 0 into ORD for the last 4 months. The last bid was 84 targeted lines with 149 FO's. If you come in as the bottom guy, you can expect to be on reserve for well over a year...Like most of the people 110-149 on the list.
So yes, while you MAY...MAY get ORD at some point, do you really want to sit on endless reserve when you could be flying on the CRJ?

How is SkyWest initial new hire training ? Is it relatively hard to get through? I'm coming from part 61 flight instructing.

No. but the structure will take a willingness on your part to embrace it.
