Blue Ridge was the call sign iirc.
ACA also became Independence Air. Which closed and the certificate was bought by Northwest to form Compass Airlines.

How does base swapping work at Skywest?

Beyond the seniority requirement, how often does a pilot get the option of switching bases ? i.e. do they have to wait for a proffer and how often are those etc.. How long until a swap would be effective?

Domicile bids happen once a month usually. On rare occasions I have seen them hold an extra bid.
The bids are usually held at the end of the month and are effective for the next PBS bidding period. For example, if they have domicile bids close on the 28th of June, your domicile award becomes effective for PBS bidding on the 10th of July, and you will start working out of that new domicile on 1 August (unless you have a carryin pairing/trip from the previous month).

We also have a Domicile Vacancy Report (DVR), which is often useless...

Often, when folks move out of a domicile with no vacancies listed on the DVR, others can sneak into it, if they had their bid in. That's the good news.

Bad news: the DVR will show the company's expected vacancies at a domicile, but they can ignore seniority to push qualified people into a domicile, instead of allowing in-domicile folks to upgrade. Happened to our PDX/SEA CRJ crews in those base(s) for E-175 transfers. I'm not sure where those folks are based now that the CRJ has moved out of those bases...but I believe they will be paid at E-175 rates while they still fly the CRJ, so that part of our policy manual still works...

Qualified people getting a base award (transfer) over those needing a training event (upgrade, Transition) is how the policy is written. This isn’t a policy deviation if you are feeling it is such.
The DVR is what company wants for the next month. A pilot needing a training event will take three months to get where needed.
The reason why SLC guys were awarded ERJ transition was because company knew the base would grow in lines over the next months to need them.

upgrading to the junior base to wait for a transfer home is a gamble but the alternative setup would be displacements happening in the DVR monthly. Pick your poison. Displacement doesn’t really happen at OO like it does at other carriers.

Tell that to the SEA CRJ crews.

He’s referring how SEA CRJ Pilots got displaced... still not as bad as my days at Eagle. I was displaced 5 or 6 times. Lost count...

You said displacement doesn't really happen here. I would say the SEA CRJ guys beg to differ.

I’ll buy that.
But a fleet base closing at any airline will result in a displacement. The Alaska CRJ got an extended life long after the writing was on the wall.
